Brigadier Beaumont was born on 27 April 1967 in Condobolin, New South Wales.  He entered the Royal Military College, Duntroon in January 1985, completing a Bachelor of Arts before graduating in December 1988.

Brigadier Beaumont has spent the bulk of his career in Intelligence postings some  highlights are a two year secondment to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; ADC to Chief of Defence Force; China analyst with the Joint Intelligence Centre US Pacific Command (JICPAC) Hawaii 1998-99; S2 HQ 1st Brigade; S2 HQ Sector West UNPKF; Commander 3rd Australian contingent US-led Iraq Survey Group, CO 1st Intelligence Battalion 2005; MA to Land Commander Australia, J25 HQJOC; DA Seoul; Deputy CJ2 HQISAF Kabul; Director General Weapons and Technical Intelligence DIO.

He has a partner, Sarah; and three children. Brigadier Beaumont enjoys Athletics; cycling; hiking; piano and surfing.
